Write down the date field
A report named sales can still be grouped by order creation, payment or settlement. Link My Books’ TikTok guidance specifically warns about differences in date basis and component definitions. Before comparing totals, record which field each report uses and which statuses it includes.
Create a like-for-like subset
Choose a clearly identified settlement or a supported transaction population. Retain the identifiers and filters that define it. If one report cannot reproduce the other’s basis, document that limitation rather than repeatedly changing dates until the amounts happen to match.
An illustrative boundary
An order created on the last day of one month can settle in the next. Counting it in the creation-month report and expecting it in that month’s payout compares different populations. This fictional example explains timing only; it does not determine the correct accounting period or local tax treatment.
Keep adjustments visible
Refunds, deductions and other components may be included differently in summary labels. Make a short definition table using the current provider documentation and your actual report. Ask the reviewer to approve that mapping before using it for recurring checks. A connector cannot make two differently defined reports identical, and a matching headline number does not prove that the underlying transactions agree.
